Vietnam is a remarkably diverse country, with distinct regional variations. Travelers can explore its length by road, rail, or affordable internal flights to see the most in limited time.
Northern Vietnam, centered around Hanoi, offers national parks, the renowned Ha Long Bay, and a range of seasons - from chilly winters to hot, wet summers, with spring and autumn being the most pleasant. Higher elevations may even see occasional snow.
The Central Coast region is home to the historic city of Hue, the former seat of Vietnamese royalty. Summers here are hot and dry, but the area experiences turbulent weather from September to February, with high seas, strong winds, and monsoon rains.
The Central Highlands provide a stark contrast, showcasing lush forests and indigenous tribal communities.
Southern Vietnam, the economic heartland, features the bustling Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, popular highlights for visitors. This region is hot and dry from March to June, before the rainy season arrives, which can last until November, though flooding is not constant. The weather is pleasant from December through March, with comfortable evening temperatures around 20°C.
Cambodia
Cambodia boasts a rich cultural heritage, with numerous ancient temples and impressive natural landscapes, such as serene beaches, mighty rivers, and remote forests.
Visiting Cambodia is a must for any traveler, as it offers the renowned temples of Angkor Wat, which are widely considered one of the greatest architectural and sculptural achievements of the ancient world. Exploring these temples, along with the country's diverse natural wonders, is like stepping into a foreign realm.
Currently, more areas of Cambodia are accessible to visitors than in recent decades. In addition to the famous Angkor temples near Siem Reap, there are many other breathtaking destinations to discover. The tranquil beaches of Sihanoukville on Cambodia's southern coast provide a serene setting to relax and soak up the sun.
Travelers may opt to visit Sihanoukville on their way back to Phnom Penh, with the opportunity to stop at the charming towns of Kampot and Kep along the way.
