The journey to Everest Base Camp provides well-maintained trails and breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It guides you through the charming Everest region, renowned for its stunning scenery and welcoming Sherpa community.
This expedition offers a chance to explore the world's highest peak and engage with Nepalese customs and heritage. Over a period of 14 days, this trek will take you to an elevation of around 5,364 metres, presenting awe-inspiring vistas of numerous peaks towering over 8,000 metres such as Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lobuche, in addition to the iconic Mt Everest itself.
The adventure commences with an exhilarating flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (35 minutes) or from Manthali/Ramechhap to Lukla (20 minutes), followed by a drive from Kathmandu that takes approximately 5-6 hours during specific seasons.
The starting point is at Lukla where your exploration into Sagarmatha National Park begins towards Namche Bazaar an important trading hub often used for acclimatisation purposes.
You will be picked up at 5:30 am to head to the airport. The early morning flight leaves at 6:30 AM and takes about 35 minutes to reach Lukla (2750M). Following breakfast in Lukla, we will hike for roughly 4 hours towards Phakding (2610M), which is a relatively flat area inhabited by Sherpas. We will then trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River and stay overnight at a lodge.
We will hike for about 7 hours to get to Namche Bazaar (3440 m), the renowned town in Solukhumbu. The final 3 hours of this journey will pose more challenges, but the stunning views along the route will help you overlook your fatigue. We'll be staying overnight at a nearby teahouse.
To assist your body in adapting to the high-altitude environment, we will dedicate a day to acclimatisation. You can engage in some daytime trekking and discover Khumjung village before returning to the teahouse at Namche Bazaar for the night.
After a 6 to 7-hour hike, you'll arrive at Tengboche (3860 m), an ideal vantage point for admiring the stunning Ama Dablam and Thamserku peaks as well as much of the Himalayan range in the Khumbu Region.
Dingboche, situated at an altitude of 4450 m, is approximately a 6-7 hour walk away. The higher altitude will likely result in a slower walking pace compared to previous days.
This marks the second day of acclimatisation. You will embark on a day excursion to Chhukung valley and return to Dingboche. It's important to rest and revitalise in order to prepare for the trek ahead.
Our upcoming destination is Lobuche (4950M), approximately a 5-6 hour walk away. The main attractions of the day include views of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse and more.
The upcoming part of your journey, from Lobuche to Gorek Shep (5160 m), is brief and can be finished in approximately 3-4 hours, allowing you to arrive just in time for lunch. After a short rest, we will lead you on an evening stroll to Everest Base Camp to admire the stunning sunset over Mt. Everest before returning to Gorek Shep for the night.
You'll start your hike early in the morning to Kala Patthar, which is situated at an altitude of 5550 m and takes about 1H 30 mins. It's renowned as an excellent vantage point for viewing the entire Himalayan range, including Mt. Everest. Weather permitting, you may witness a captivating sunrise unlike any other in the world. Following that, enjoy breakfast at the lodge before trekking towards Pheriche, which typically takes around 5-6 hours. Spend the night at a tea house.
After enjoying breakfast at the lodge, begin the trek towards Namche. The journey typically lasts around 6 to 7 hours before reaching a lodge in Namche Bazar for the night.
This marks the final day of our trek. The descent to Lukla will require another 6-7 hours. Upon arrival, we will check in, have dinner, and stay overnight at a lodge in Lukla.
Return to Kathmandu and then we will take you to your hotel. In the evening, participate in our cultural shows and enjoy an authentic Nepali meal.
Despite its challenges, admiring the beautiful scenery of forests, farmlands, hillsides and mountains along this path will inspire you as you make your way up to Tengboche after leaving Namche Bazaar following a day dedicated to acclimatising at higher altitudes.
