Visiting the Upper Mustang region requires a special permit. The permit costs $500 for 10 days, and an additional $50 per day is charged if the permit expires after the 10-day period. The permit is counted in days, not nights, starting and ending in Kagbeni. The Upper Mustang area is a restricted zone, and foreigners were not allowed to enter until after 1992. A permit is still required to access this area. Certain parts of Mustang fall under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), so an ACAP permit is also necessary. A restricted area permit can only be obtained if you are traveling with at least one other person. Individual travelers cannot obtain this permit.
If you are a solo traveler, please let us know, and we can help you join other travelers with similar dates to obtain the Upper Mustang entry permit. We will need a copy of your original passport to obtain the restricted area permits.
